Water in passenger side rear footwell

Hey all,

The car is going into the garage to get this issue sorted next week, but does anyone know how water could be getting in here. It seems to be confined to the flat carpet area behind the passenger seat in the rear footwell underneath the mat.

Could this be something so simple as a leaky door seal (all outer door seals seem fine, inners are sealed but only by 1-2mm overlap). Or could this be a pollen filter or similar issue as the little plastic vent is there - any insights?

Car is parked on a flat. Looks as though ill have to get a shower cap for my next car

Thanks for reading, hope someone can help me avoid getting fobbed off by my dealer whos currently holds a bad reputation with myself and others.

My mate had this problemo and it was when he had a service done. They hadnt put the plastic bit by the pollen filter down properly. (The bit where rain runs down) got through into the front passenger footwell. Stunk like hell

I had exactly the same problem - it was a leaking front windscreen. Have a look around the edge on the outside of the screen for any obvious deficiencies in the seal.

Hi,
I think it will be the pollen filter housing. if it is not fitted correctly then it can leak. Dont worry about it cos it can be corrected easily just let the garage no an they will sort it(if there any good).
I work on seats everyday by the way i am technician for seat!!;)

Cheers for the input guys! If its the pollen filter housing, where would the water be coming from?

Cotta where do you work mate? Is it Autoworld in Sheffy?

Actually if it is rear it could be coming through the door but check to see if there is any water anywhere else too. if there isnt any in the front it probably will be the door. There is a sealed carrier in the door but if it has been removed and lets say custom speakers have been installed then the seal could of been damaged which could let water in! All suggestions are just suggestions so it could be something totally different!
And yes it is me from autoworld in ur first msg it it my garage your referring to lol!?
I didnt scratch your tints btw it would of happened when the window dropped from the bust regulator! honest!!!!!!

Lol the tints issue wasnt me mate, that was nathan_harding off here, but that was obvious the damage wasnt maliciously done by a mechanic.

Ive got my car booked in for this tuesday, but after the arsey comments i got off service and a mechanic before im not hugely fussed and may take it to Ted Johnson in Barnsley.

The car does have new speakers, but was leaking before that (not that Autoworld will care lol). Could you get my car on your shift and try to fix it anyway?? A bit cheeky but its worth it to ask hehe.

Its nice to know Autoworld finally have someone enthusiastic about the cars they sell and serve. Im getting quite frankly pi$$ed of at their pathetic and anal attempts try try to fob me and colleagues out of warranty claims. Since when was a windscreen washer rusting a manufacturing 'feature' not a defect lol oh and how can a a different interior light (off a cupra no less!) break an ignition switch!? Im looking forward to the excuse they give about my door lock not working :D

Anyway ill stop before i go mad... I can see myself writing a few letters later this week if things arent rectified!

Mike tried dint he but got told something about puttin it back standard before it could be worked on!
WTF i have no idea why an interior light affects the ignition switch:shrug: but i will definately see wot i can do.
I am waiting for my apprenticeship to finish then i am gonna look for some where better to work like JBS which sounds a cool place!!

Cheers for the reply mate, mines a Silver 1.9 TDi Sport and its booked in for Tuesday! Youll have to let me know cos if the master tech gets hold of it, i might aswell not bother! Its coming in for door locks and the leak, but i may get the headlight replaced too because theres so much precipitation in there you could actually drink out of it!
