Weird code on scan help needed

Hi,

On looking into engine management light issue scan came up with:

18104 - P1696 Powertrain data bus implausible signal message from steering column ecu intermittent.

Engine management light was egr which has been fixed and no lights at all are now on dash.

Noticed a clicking noise on full lock at slow speeds recently, could be unrelated but just thought I'd mention in case it narrowed down to issue.

Any help would be appreciated.
