I believe i have a Mk2 leon (rear door handles are on the window).

My middle rear seats are becoming very wet. Unsure of where this is coming from - roof lining is dry.

Any ideas~

tried lifting the seats at each corner, but they dont appear to want to come up. Corners release but about 10 inches to either side appear to be stuck down.

Any advice on how to lift them up correctly?

I believe to lift the rear seats you need to first pull them up from the FRONT which unhooks them and then lift the rear.

Pull them up at the front, theres a clip at each end of the seat. Then push the seat base towards the back (because there's a hook) and lift.
