If you get larger diameter rims, you generally fit lower profile tyres, thus the overall diameter for 18” or 19” will be the same - there can be some optical illusion, but fundamentally the arch gap will remain the same.

You will need to lower the car and/or add spacers (or opt for wheels with a different offset) if you want to actually reduce the arch gap.

Thanks bud, usually I would go with 19"s at the moment I have an audi a5 with 20" wheels and they fill the arches nice after putting 15mm spacers all round, il just play around with wheels on the new Leon, thanks for the reply.

The overall size and rolling radius of the the wheel / tyre combination of an 18” wheel with 225/40 R18 tyres and a 19” wheel with 235/35 R19 tyre will be pretty much the same, so the arch gap will be pretty much the same, whether you have 18” or 19” wheels. However, visually, the 19’s with the lower profile tyres will probably give the impression of filling the arches more.

Bear in mind that tyres for 19” wheels will be more expensive than they would be for 18” wheels. Also, with the FR having reasonably firm suspension, fitting 19” wheels with 35 profile tyres will also make for a firmer ride.

Cool I think I will go with the 19s with the low profile

What year is the FR?

The facelift is a little softer, post 2017 cars. Pre-facelift, no way I'd put 19'' wheels on it. 18'' is bearable if you run the tyres at 'comfort' pressures. Just...

I actually downsized from 19 to 18s, 235 40 on my Cupra. Car feels better for it, less skittish on crappy road surfaces (and let's face it, they only ever get worse). Wheels/Tyres are cheaper too. Would not recommend 19s.

Is that genuine information or just a guess regarding softness.

Guys would wheels that are 235,35,19 go on my Leon fr.
235/35 R19 is a tyre size, and is a 19” tyre, so if you’ve decided to go for 18” wheels, then the standard size 18” tyres that Seat fit to the Leon are 225/40 R18.

Hiya they are 5x112 and 57 bore, I was just curious if there would be any issues having them on the car

It's a 2015 guys and I've decided to go with 18s just need to find some now.
18'' on the pre-facelift are fine, as long as you don't go for a really firm tyre or run them at the max recommended pressure. It's still pretty firm, the wrong side of ideal in my opinion, but it's not stupid.

Different seat padding on the pre/face lift models maybe, making a difference to ride comfort? Just throwing it out there.
