Hi

I'm new to the Leon world and diesels to be honest. What's the best mods to do to bring some power to the old girl?

Better turbo?
Fmic?
Injectors?
Air?
Zorsts?
Head work?
Cams?

Any preference?

My first question would be, what year of Leon is it? And does it have a dpf fitted? If so, that will be the biggest choke point (literally).

Sorry, that would have helped lol. It's a 2006 mk2, the previous owner said the dpf and egr have been removed. As there's no management light on I can only assume they have been switched off on the ecu

Hmm, usually deleting the egr/dpf warning lights is part of a Stage 2 software upgrade. Do you know if it's been remapped? And who by? Does it still have the factory air intake?

Not sure if it's remapped, it certainly doesn't set the world alight when i floor it. Standard air in take

Trouble is, a lot of the big remappers won't touch diesels past a simple software remap now. As higher bhp requires the dpf knocking out (which you have). But it's now an mot fail, so a lot of remappers have removed the service. I wonder if you get a custom remap from somewhere. But if it hasn't been remapped, that would be the best place to get extra power / torque. And likely custom remaps would offer more bhp for your money. Maybe take a look at Darkside Developments website as they specialise in diesels.

Get it on the rollers first, if it's had a DPF delete and a map then it should be easily over 200 bhp and pretty much at the limit of the turbo.
If you want much more you'll need a bigger turbo, intercooler and injectors.

If it feels pretty limp now chances are you've got a big boost leak or a boost control issue causing the car to run drastically less power than it should.

It does blow smoke at 3k rpm up so possible boost leak although nothing obvious. What injectors and turbo are recommended as straight swap upgrades?

Is the boost control distributed through a valve or mapping form?

The N75 is responsible for controlling boost pressure, it does this by varying vacuum to the turbo actuator.
Both of these parts can fail and cause boost problems, also a loose vacuum hose or one with a hole in it can stop them working properly.

I wouldn't worry too much about turbo's and injectors yet, if the cars not running right you'll be pissing money away fitting upgraded parts.

Fix the problems you have first.
