where to place axle stands at the rear?

where to place axle stands at the rear?

I had one of the wheels off today cleaning but had to just support the car with the jack which isn't really the best solution.

pics if possible.

Does the manual show? I would have thought the lift points are just inside the sill

I would put them just inside the sills, but I would place a piece of wood between the stand and the car to absorb the shock between the two surfaces.
Obviously be careful. Give the car a good rattle before you get under it lol.

The manualy doesn't show where to place axel stands just the jacking point.
I just need the wheels off for cleaning I'm not going to be under the car.
If I had a spare wheel I just put that on with the alloy wheel off.

not even a skinny mini ? let me guess a large bit of foam , a pump and a tin of gunk ?

When I did the rear pads on my old Altea, I think I stuck the stands under the rear axle.....

Bit of a worry that you'd bend the wishbones if you put the axle stand in the middle of them!

I'm not sure now you mention that..... has the Altrea got a solid rear beam, or independant rear suspension?

I'm probably thinking of the rear-beam on the LCR !
