I currently have a Leon FR 170 CR tdi and I was originally intending on changing my car this February when it will be 3 years old. Having almost made up my mind to have the New Leon I was now thinking of changing round about May/June and and having the higher powered tdi. I haven't ordered one yet because I want to see one, read more reviews and have a test drive. However, my local dealer rang me last week to inform me that top diesel model will not now be available until the end of the year at the earliest. I'm now seriously considering the 1.8 tsi instead but cannot find any reviews of test drives for this engine size.

The base price of the 184bhp FR will be £22,375
18" 'Performance' alloy wheels are £350
Technology Package (LED Headlights, Navigate and DAB) is £1075, but currently if you order a car before 31st March it's £500

I've heard very good things about the 1.4 TSI 140 bhp engine and although I don't like the idea of telling people I drive a 1.4 I don't think it should be overlooked either, because it's not slow (0-62 in 8.2) and has a combined MPG of 54.3. The price of the 1.4 TSI FR is £19,385 which is basically £3k less than the 184bhp TDI, you'd have to cover a lot of miles to get that back!

Is the 1.4 TSI twincharged? If so I would get the 184 TDI because it doesn't need a new engine every service.

Yeah, but how realistic is an MPG of 54.3 on a 1.4 TSI? I would take what SEAT say about MPG with a very large pinch of salt!

I get generally get about 5 mpg less in mine than the official quoted on my drive to work, so if that was the same I'd be pretty happy.

I suppose the only way to tell is go for a test drive and see what it gets, then do the same route in your own car and see the difference.

Ive now got a BMW 116i Sport that has a 1,6 turbo petrol and its quite spritely with a 0-62 of 8.5 sec. These new small turbo petrols are pretty good.

This thread is full of fail

They are offering both the 150PS and 184PS 2.0 TDIs in FR trim

The 1.4 TSI 140PS is an all new engine designed from the ground up. It will be more reliable than its predecessor and for average mileage users makes more sense than the diesel

Simples :)

No they aren't. The 184ps isn't available. Unsimples.

Let's rephrase available as available to order instead then. First deliveries probably won't be until Summer but they are certainly offering this engine, thread seems to imply they aren't.
