The Chinese are very happy to sell both EV and other types

There is also a lot of talk in the news about the being to many Chinese car manufacturers competing agains each other on price, soon there will be lots of amalgamations / takeovers so the new companies will be even larger and stronger to fight the EU / US Manufacturers.

Personally I think Europe will give way and let the petrol car carry on for a while as they rolling back on there green ambitions across the board, but hopefully I am wrong.

Well ofcourse Vag could go under or be taken over by the Chinese in the next 10 years. Markets might decide rather than the EU. The Chinese private sector way is to enable competition where useful, so many manufacturers are to be expected as they compete for a market.

Agreed about competition but there are to many Chinese makers and they are all fighting a price war (which is hurting them all) so there will be mergers, one article I read last week did say that some of the Chinese are looking to use companies like Stellantis to build the cars in europe to avoid the import duty.

In the mean time the EU is backtracking on the Green Deal (Due to Politics) so fully expect the German and Eastern European car makers to get there way on an extension (possibly with caveats).

Norway. Writing is on the wall. Sink or swim.
