Won't let me connect via VCDS

Just tried to use VCDS on my car and it won't let me connect. It comes up with an error message saying I either 1) don't have the ignition on 2) don't have it plugged into my car 3) don't have it plugged into the computer or it isn't up to date.

It's the first time I have logged on and it's told me I need to up date. I bought the cable and software off eBay and has worked wondered for months, live logging and changing settings.

I obviously don't connect to the Internet to update it. It also tells me to go to option then test and when I do it says my USB drivers aren't up to date.

Anybody have any ideas?

i dont know which cable you are using, but maybe you are using a too new version of the software for your cable. i have the rosstech dongle and the firmware gets updated automatically or at leats i am alerted to it and asked if i want to upgrade the firmware.

I don't see how because I never connect to the internet when using VCDS as I no not to update it. Just weird how it's telling me to update the software and now it won't work. :-/

Still won't let me do it. I turned the date back to July and VCDS just kept freezing and turning off. I turned the updates etc in the options settings to never look for an update now but still no look. I have 11.3 on it (I think).

Is the cable busted or can I sort it out?
