£140 a bulb?! :-o

That's putting it polite:) I said a few more well chosen words than that.

On the plus side... I do have a good relationship with my dealer, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will be able to help. The car was purchased in February, has done 4000 miles, and apart from the coming home function coming on in the garage, the headlamps have hardly been used, it's been the light evenings since March time....

Oh well, I will have to beg, hope and plead with my service manager in the morning.. And HOPE!!!!!! and I mean HOPE!!!

I thought the HID bulbs were covered for so many hours??

The manual states that they last around 5 times longer than standard bulbs, but it also states that "officially" bulbs are not covered by warranty, classed as a wear & Tear item:(

Just hope my dealer can help.... as I say have a good relationship with everyone there, on my 3rd car in 4 years from them, and they have helped before.

Stuart they are covered in the first year as is your exhaust and various other bits,
I myself have gone over to the VTEC side and i know of type-r owners who's xenon bulbs have gone on there 5 year old accords and the dealer has replaced them as they are supposed to last 10yrs or so but this was a good will gesgure so if you get no luck at the dealers try customer service and kick up a stink mate...Good luck

Very Very happy now... dealer has confirmed they are covered by the warranty:) Xenon bulbs are covered, normal everyday bulbs are not...

Good news,

D1S are more complex than the old D2S system. Mine have shifted to a purple colour from blue.

If I remeber correct D1S bulbs have the igniter and the bulb in one unit instead of two seperate units connected by a cable.

Just hope they last now, but nice to know they are guarantee:) :)

Glad you got it sorted out Stuart.

Hi Gary

The Civic Type R doesnt have Xenons (unless its an import), they have bulbs that 'give a modern white effect' according to the brochure. Easy way to see if Xenon bulbs are fitted from new on a Uk spec car is to check if they have headlight washers as these are obligatory in the UK with Xenons.

Rob i've got to be honest and say that it is by far the best car i have ever owned in my life and my 250bhp leon that i sold to buy it doesn't even come close to it at all.
It's faster, smoother, handles like no other car i've ever driven thanks to the lsd and looks stunning. :)

I read somewhere that due to xenon bulbs changing colour slightly once worn in they should always be swapped in pairs - and as its covered under warranty might be worth mentioning...
