Just had cambelt changed now yellow fault shows up!!!

Hi guys

Service, MOT and Cam belt nearly 1K£ now the first time I use the car the yellow ignition light comes on with the attached info.
Cambelt P1519 adjustment bank 1 malfunction and actuator A bank 1 circuit malfunction.

Any ideas?

Also, anyone know what this is under the engine at the front? appears to be insecure apart from a cable tie and several broken plastic fixings???

Hi mate, sorry to hear about the issues. The fault code relates to the camshaft adjustor, specifically the wiring. Rosstech is the best place for any code on these cars, they are the manufacturers of VCDS (factory level scan tool)

As you paid to have it done, then i would just take it back to the garage and get them to sort it, but the most simple thing would be either a blown fuse, or more likely that it's not plugged in properly. The N205 Which is the camshaft adjuster unit, is on the opposite end of the cylinder head to the cambelt. I've taken a pic for you on mine. You'll need to remove the plastic engine cover to see it.

As for the second thing, it's your SAI pump. (secondary air injection) It's common for them to break or be cable tied or riveted back together. It only runs for around 45 secs on cold starts to reduce emissions, and isn't really worth worrying about too much.

AH! thanks so much, they did work around that area as they had to remove the pipes that go to the oil cooler for cleaning and new clips, I wonder if they dislodged it, probably in slightly different position on mine as I have an AGN engine but I bet that's the issue. Will check tomorrow morning.

No worries mate. Should be identical place to mine, the non turbo engines are the same block and cylinder head as the turbo version. Happy Easter to you too
