Owned the car for nearly 3 years now, but only just started to spend some money on it so thought id start a project thread :)

Only mods so far are :

Green panel filter
PD 160 intake
Revo stage 1 Remap
Cupra red air vent switches
Alpine ipod headunit

Hopefully have a few more in the next few weeks :D

After thinking about buying coilovers for the ibiza after getting it remapped and deciding I was keeping it for a while I decided I was going to keep the standard suspension setup....

Until I came across a set of AP Coilovers on ebay the other night with 4 hours remaining, 0 bids and starting price of £120. In the end I won them for £120, being the only bidder. RRP on these is £393. Theyve covered 8k and look in really good condition

Postage is a decent £22.50 from Derby to North East Scotland
Will be fitting in the next 2 weeks along with new drop links, top mounts and either Audi TT 312mm calipers, discs and pads or keep the 288mm brakes but treat them to some Ferrodo DS 2500 pads and new standard discs. And possibly a whiteline rarb, why do things by halfs eh ;) Also getting laser alingment at Wallace Performance to get it set up and maybe even a blast on the rollers to confirm the claimed 170 bhp and 280 lb ft from Revo stage 1

And a pic of the ibiza just now ( think theres some missed bits of wax around badges)

Pic were after a claybar, auto glym super resin x 2 and a meguiars stage 3 carnuba wax

not that im biased or anything but cracking car with some sound plans, coilies for £120 = bargain mate.

what else do you have planned??

Couldnt believe it when I saw 4 hours left, 0 bids, £120 and no reserve!

Other plans are a rear anti roll bar to make it handle even better now that iv got the coilovers, and may get a cupra front splitter too

Ideally id love to get a milltek, fmic, clutch and get stage 2 but that may be a while. See how things go :p

Also needing a 40k service very soon

Last few weeks iv really went on a car cleaning spree, polished every week then last weekend it got a clay and wax too so il be keeping on top of that. Only thing, when polishing it you see all the stone chips on the bonnets and wing :(

Also forgot to add, either DS 2500 pads and standard discs or a 312mm setup if the TT shop get calipers in stock as my current pads are wearing very thin so dont know how long il have to wait for TT shop to get a set. So may go down the DS2500 route

tell me about it, the red paint really shows the chips, but the red when polished looks stunning, when you get the coilies on and fitted you'll have to get some pics up.

nice ride mate, got a black FR ibiza myself

where about are you in scotland?
how much did the coilovers drop the car

Im 60 miles north of Aberdeen in Buckie, although I work in Aberdeen

Coilovers aren't fitted yet, their currently at the Royal Mail depot and being delivered tomorrow :D

Thanks for the comments, and I intend of getting a few good pictures once the coilovers are fitted! And I think red cars definately look the best polished, apart from my flame pink corsa I used to have, t cut'd every week:lol:

No coilover updates this week im afraid :(

Received them and the badger has sent me 1 x AP rear shock and 1x standard rear shock which is pretty useless!

Also getting new grub screws for securing the adjuster rings as 1 was rounded and 1 was missing, and I suspect 1 shock is maybe dodgy. It pushes in awful easy compared to the other, although I cant see it being faulty after 8k and they look in really good condition

The guy was Hayden, and he said he removed them from his mates polo when he traded it in. I do laugh when I think he claims he didn't notice, and if he took them off the car and forgot to take off a rear shock? I wouldn't be trusting him with anything if thats what hes like!

Had 2 weeks off work recently so got cracking fitting all the bits id gathered over the past month which were

AP coilovers
New top mounts and bearings
New drop links
Ferrodo DS2500 pads
New discs (Thanks Simon)

Coilover fitting went smooth enough, started with the harder drivers side first thankfully, pass side seemed a doddle after that. It did help that I was replacing the discs too though, which meant after jacking the shock up with a shock and wood I could batter F***k out the discs to release the shock from the hub. Seemed the easiest way

Coilovers had been buffed down and coated with dry film lube at work then copper greased before I fitted them so they looked spot on

Set them slightly under half way, with 55m of thread left below the adjuster ring and its seemed to work quite well and im happy with it! The back is screwed all the way down, thinking about taking out the adjuster cups to get it lower but dont want it to end up too low in comparison to the front :picard: Still got the standard shocks on the back as the kit only had 1 AP rear shock, and I haven't forked out £87 for a rear shock from AP yet

Happy with how everything is, although theres a slight creak from 1 shock when I pushed down on the wing this morning, but wasnt like that this afternoon. Also seems to be a slight noise when I first start driving then stops? And I cant say the ride is much harsher than standard :D

Heres some pics, although back does look high in the pics. pics were taken a day or 2 after so should have settled. Next mod = Whiteline rear ARB :yay:

Cheers! Aye it was a good find, couldnt believe it when it said 2 hours left, £120 and no bids! Just searched for polo and fabia aswell as their all the same.

Think the adjuster rings coming out soon though, see how low the back is then

Well haven't updated this for a while!

Once the coilovers were fitted the car stayed as it was for a while.

Decided to change the front a bit in November and fitted a 3/4 sized front plate from fancyplates.com along with some 6k HID's :) Few pics below

Then I decided to take it off the road for winter as I needed a dent fixed on the front wing and decided to get the whole front end resprayed and didnt want it getting chipped again from gritters. Purchased a £400 astra mk4 1.6 ls that saw me through no problem, fine having a car that goes anywhere and can jump into it wearing my boilersuit and take the dog

Now the ibizas back on the road, iv got a LCR splitter to fit and the coilovers to wind down slightly ;)
Also topped up my cleaning supplies and planning having a good day at it this week and keeping on top of it. Got some poorboys natty blue wax and menzerna 203s polish to add once my existing has run out.

When I got it back on the road had a boost leak due to intercooler elbow coming off, refitted it and it still came away slightly with revvin it so decided to replace it. £96 from my local VW! TPS was £80 but a 120 mile round trip
Hopefully have some pics up this week with it gleaming :) and maybe a lcr splitter in a few weeks and sitting lower :) may even purchase some BBS CH's in the summer
