I've put the facelift climatronic in my '56 plate FR.. it looks a lot nicer and works in conjuction with the RNS510.

So does the climate change on the screen? Need some info as I may do it. Also any idea on where to pick up an rns510 at the lowest possible price. Cheers pal

Yes. I got my Version H off eBay for around £600. But you can get older version such as the Version C for about £300.

Did you get a facia to match the climate control? How different is the colour as I will be leaving the matching trim around the speedo as it is.
Also is there any adjustments that need to be made for the climate or is it a straight swap?
I'm not very good at these things so if I did decide to go for it, could you run it through with me?

There's a rns510 version B for around £400 on eBay. Is it worth waiting?
Cheers

No the facias on mine are slightly different colours still. It's not too noticeable but I have 2 options really if I wanna change it:

1) Buy the same colour RNS and speedo facias as the climate control facia.
2) Spray / Wrap all of them in a different colour (maybe piano black).

There are some pins you will need to adjust in the block connectors at the back:

Block A
- Remove Pin 20 and tape it up (or use it as a Remote wire for Sub/Amp)
- Put Pin 16 in Pin 20's place.

Note: You only need to do the following changes if you have an older VW model. This can be checked by seeing if your Air Recirculation button works; if not, then you will need to follow the next steps.

Block B
- Remove Pin 7.
- Put Pin 6 into Pin 7's place.

Block C
- Remove Pins 9 and 10.
- Put Pin 7 into Pin 9's place and Pin 8 into Pin 10's place (Note: It may be the other way around but this worked for me. Test by seeing if you have error codes in VCDS for the Recirculation flap; if you have these errors, swap Pins 9 and 10 and they should be gone.)

The image below exlpains the changes to blocks B and C mentioned above:

When you have finished wiring as above, turn on your ignition and do the Basic Setting by holding both the AC button and the 3rd button from the left on the top row for a few seconds. They should start flashing for around 20 - 40 secs and it is then complete :)

As for the RNS you have found; I would personally not pay £400 for a version B.
If you need any more help just let me know.
