Hi, I'm wondering why Seat Ibiza 6F (2017+) is called MK6 here but on many other places it's marked as fifth generation - MK5?

From Wikipedia:

First generation (021A; 1984)
Second generation (6K; 1993)
Third generation (Typ 6L; 2002)
Fourth generation (6J/6P; 2008)
Fifth generation (6F/KJ1; 2017)

Hi, good question.

SEAT remodelled a 6K(Mk2) then later claimed it was just a facelift when clearly it wasn’t, they re-engineered it not just stuck a new body on it. It had new engines and drivetrains new dashboard designs and trims. We’ve always defined them as a Mk3 here.

It it wasn’t just us, even dealers referred to them at the time as Mk3’s and also parts departments listed them as Mk3 certainly in the UK but Europe may of had other ideas. The model codes describe them as 6K1( what we call the mk2) and 6K2 (what we call the Mk3) it may of been a national confusion even specs differed here due to the way VWUK as the Uk importer marketed them.

Hope this helps.
