Hi - as I posted elsewhere (see; https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/sporty-summer-tyre-recommendations.475468/ ), I'm looking for some better tyres to replace the rather mediocre stock 215/45 R17 91W Nexen Blue HD Plus tyres on my 2021 Ibiza FR, have mainly been considering either the Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 6 or the Michelin Pilot Sport 5s. I've gone through what seem to be the main pros and cons of the two tyres in my linked post.
I noticed, though, that the Goodyear AS6s come in two different versions - the 87Y and the 91Y (the PS5s I've seen all seem to be 91Y). I'm aware that a 91Y tyre can bear more weight than the 87Y, but is that really necessary for an Ibiza FR, which isn't a heavy car, especially as by far the majority of the time it's going to be just me (70Kg) in the car and will only very rarely need to carry heavy loads?
Are there any pros/cons in going for 87Y tyres vs 91Y? Would go to 87Y tyres affect my warranty at all (which was extended to March 2026, as purchased secondhand from a SEAT main dealer)? Thanks.
