This is going to sound like a stupid question - is the battery a Duracell and if so, have you taken off the sneaky bit of clear plastic that they stick on these now?
What? How? Who could possibly do that. Well, ok I did the same, but that was just a one off ....
Could be the kiddy anti bite so they don't swallow them and burn their stomach. Some of the batteries are also coated with this so that has to be rubbed off. Might be on that sticky label. It was been recorded as well invisible films which prevent contact.
Nowadays they don't tend to run the risk of loosing the settings if you are switching batteries slowly. That was the old worry.
They are registered with the mothership at Vag so no buying off ebay, you need them to be officially registered by a dealer.
