Wireless cradle too small | phone over heating (any mod/fix ideas)

Hi All,

So I'm having an "interesting" issue one would say it's more on the frustrating side.

I have a galaxy s24ultra a big phone, now when I put it in the wireless charger it doesn't fit properly and leave quite a big gap in between the phone and the charger surface important to note it does charge but kinda slowly but its not the issue and due to this the phone get very hot almost immediately, I find my self connection the cable to charge and it kinda defeats the purpose of the wireless AA, Are there any solution to this?

TLDR: big phone, small charge pad, gap, gets hot fast, any idead how to fix/mod?

Thanks.

S24+ fits perfectly :)

Some people report the phone getting hot, mine is set to not charge the device past 80% to preserve battery life which seems to help (very rarely get the phone over-heat message).

A "downgrade"(not saying 24+ is a bad device its amazing) is not an option for me I need the futures that the ultra (ex NOTE) have. I get the over heat msg almost immediately and even the music start to lag :( , no matter at what battery percentage is, I tired to turn off fast wireless charging and it help very little and charging this way is pointless as the phone discharge faster the the slow wireless charging charges it. Case wise I have the original Samsung case and it's as thin as it gets and even without a case I get the same results.

Ok so my formentor wireless charging pad makes phone hot using s22 ultra with original Samsung transparent case.
While the same phone in audi Q3 didn't get that hot using wireless charging. That car had no wireless AA just to clarify.
So I started using cable like I used to do in Q3 for android auto and put phone on passenger seat but the mmi more often would give a pop up message phone hot and change its position. That was new to me.
Scratching my head due to phone being too hot and trying to find a solution I disabled the wireless android auto in the phone, android auto developer options is where you can.
So basically now I am back to previous Audi Q3 setup.
Using cable for android auto and charging.
Phone is comfortable now 😌
I know I was too excited to learn that formentor has wireless AA.
But I cannot destroy my phone for using wireless AA.
And raising phone temperature.
Now I need to find a way to block wireless charging altogether.
Maybe car or not sure if there is an option in phone.
So instead of phone lying on passenger seat it should go in its place.

Thanks.

When I was using my 22ultra I didn't had such overheating issue as the 24ultra just to note.

What i do to avoid the overheating and still needing to charge when I have enough battery I use a cable coming from the rear usb c ports, when I need really need to charge I have ugreen 25w charger as well (not allways connected i truly hate cable clutter that why i want everything to be wireless), and to stop from wireless charging I just put the phone screen down it won't charge that way (we have an annoying law prohibition to put the phone on the passenger seat I believe)

I need to check if the rubber mat can be removed or modified i just need to know I can get a replacement one cheaply and easily. And not damage it while removing.

I don't think you should go that route unless aesthetics are important. You can try putting a piece of cardboard or something to stop phone using wireless charging like a buffer between charging pad and phone.
I have to yet try that myself when time permits.

That only turns off fast wireless charging. It still charges wireless but slower.
It would be good to turn off wireless charging completely.
I remember some old samsung phone had an option.

Cooler if it charges slower but perhaps not the solution. I'm a tablet man so chances of getting anything in that slot are remote 😆. There is a school of thought that with AAW used on long journeys best to use cable in anycase due to battery drain (that's an East YorkshireRetrofit quote).Overheating is going to be a consequence of pushing the charge into the phone to keep the functionality of AAW. Seems to be a bit of a design flaw. A catch twenty two. You'd think there might be an option in the developers menu.

I see Audi MMI had an option where it said wireless charging you pulled down the screen and turned it off each time... seems a bit laborious. Something for being a Luddite on AA and mib3 😉.
