EBC list 2 sizes for brake discs for my 2018 FR 1.8Tsi when I enter my reg number. 312 or 288mm on the front 310 or 272mm on the rear.
how do you find out what size is factory fitted to your model without taking the wheels off and measuring them?

If you have a full list of PR codes for your car, check the code starting with 1Z.
It shows the brake setup in your car.
1ZE is for 288mm, 1ZA is for 312 mm.

Also, if you have a diagnostics device or have access to one, you can check the long coding of the ABS control unit (03)
If the value in byte 4 is 24, then it's 288.
If the value in byte 4 is 34, then it's 312.

I believe the 1.8tsi should have 312 front and 272 rear discs - same as the 184tdi, but as about you're full PR code list will confirm this.
Presume you have an EPB - as there are 2x 272 options - with and without EBP which are a different brake.

I wouldn't always trust aftermarket suppliers catalogues. I see many mistakes.
I also find the exact OE number fitted to the car - and then also cross check against this OE number.

I went through the same thing a few months ago. Generally (99% of the time), 150ps and below will have 288mm front discs, and above 150ps will be 312mm. I would therefore be fairly certain yours is 312mm at the front.

For the rear, I'd guess 272mm. I'm not aware of anything below the Cupra/R/S3 having 310mm rears.

Having DCC onboard creates an exception to that. My 1.4 FR has a 125ps engine, but it came with 312s because of DCC.

What size are your fronts?

I was unaware DCC was an option on 1.4s - I thought it was only 1.8 FR's and above. I'm jealous!

I was talking about fronts, they are 312mm. If there was no DCC, it would come with 288s.

Rears are 272.

As for having DCC on a 1.4, that was an option I was looking for and it is so rare that I was lucky to find one, specially ordered by a like-minded fellow in mid-2018. The car has been mostly used by his wife and they decided to get a Cupra Formentor and I happened to be the first serious buyer responding to their ad

I love it when manufacturers decide not to make nice options exclusive to their higher-level cars only

Oh I'm sorry - I've been up since 7 working on my MSc dissertation and got confused :ROFLMAO:

Actually quite interesting - I was on the EBC website earlier looking at pads, and was wondering why they listed 312/272 for the 1.4 in addition to 288/255.

I couldn't be as picky with mine (it is my first car, sort of), however I did manage to get a tech with the winter pack and 18s. Decided to get a PFL rather than a FL with nothing on it. I just wish I'd been able to get an aero pack!

Speaking of exclusive nice options - I saw a 118i (136bhp 1.5 3cyl) on campus the other week with the full 135i brakes, body kit and exhaust - apparently if you wanted it, BMW would make it! Quite cool, even if it is like having an Cupra R with a 1.4 in it.

No worries :)

I was quite picky, because I wanted to have winter pack, SEAT Sound, DCC, 18" alloys and virtual cockpit.
It had to be an FR, and a desire-red one, and having a gearbox other than a manual would be a dealbreaker

What were the odds of finding one like this ?
I was really very lucky and jumped at the opportunity of course.

Speaking of aero pack, looking at it on SEAT Accessories website has been one of my daily activities since the day I got the car in May 2021.
Finally, three weeks ago I ordered the parts from local dealer, along with the original twin exhaust kit.
Rear spoiler and exhaust kit arrived two days ago and I have an appointment for installation tomorrow morning :giggle:

Ah - now you've mentioned sound! The speakers in mine aren't that bad (its not Burmester, but it's good enough), but f*** me do the doors not half rattle and vibrate when there's any hint of bass! It'll be a job for the summer to soundproof the entire car.

I too wanted a manual - I'd only recently passed and I wanted to spend a few years having some fun rev matching, but also the 150ps 6 speed autos are awful! The next car I get will be a DSG though - the occasional fun on a b road just doesn't make up for the pain of sitting in traffic burning my clutch away.

Looking forward to seeing how the aero pack fits together - I'm keen on a spoiler for mine to round the back off, but reckon I'll leave a dual exit exhaust to when I leave uni, and can finally afford an S3 ;)

Being one who simply can't let his habits go, driving an automatic is really a nightmare to me, I'm not exaggerating.
So even if someone throw the best automatic on me for free, I'd sell it and go buy a manual, it might sound stupid but that's who I am.

The guy at the dealer advised me to wait for all parts to arrive and complete the installation in one go, but I couldn't wait.
Surely I'm going to post photos tomorrow but obviously the car would look strange without the aero bumper and sideskirts.

Anyway, wish you for the best in school and future motoring adventures :giggle:

Is there a difference on the front? I know, from the factory anyway, the aero kit option deletes front sensors?

I should probably do some more work instead of sitting on this forum, huh?

A complete aero kit would include a lip for the existing front FR bumper.
I didn't order it yet but I will eventually, probably in a couple of months.
I didn't hear anything about the sensor delete, but I don't think it interferes with the sensors in any way.

From the 2016 brochure - ' Sport Styling Pack1,2,9: Includes sports styled front and rear bumpers, body- coloured side skirts, rear spoiler and dual exhaust pipes. Deletes front parking sensors'

I couldn't find the same in the FL brochures. Something the PFL boys miss out on!

Current aero pack is introduced later than this sport-styling pack, I guess.
Maybe with a different front bumper.

EDIT: I meant the previous sport-styling pack had a different bumper. Aero-pack obviously doesn't include one.
