Would love to fling mine round a track but worried i'd need to replace brakes and tyres afterwards? Is it that hard on the leon?

How does the Leon stand up to a track day?

on the recent elvington seat offer event, the instructor we had expected the tyres to last for that day only. the car had 830 miles on when we started, and 870ish when we finished. then there was the afternoon session too.
guess it depends on how much welly you give it.
it also depends on the driver & the surface of the track.
Airfields will chew tyres, but somewhere more sensible like Donington Park or Silverstone will be much more friendly to tyres

Ive done 5 tracksdays, still on the original back tyres, and would still be on the original brakes, if I had not upgraded them. So, it really depends how hard to push it. I don't hang about, but I don't over do it!
A good way through my second set of tyres, but bare in mind that my car is 1.5 years old with 16k+ miles, and with alot of torque through the front wheels.

Ive been going on track days for the last 10 years, im just waiting on the FR derv to be delivered - it should do well on track...
Front tyres will wear - allow the following rule one tyre replacement per track day (if that makes sense). On my M3 e36 I use part worns as the shoulders wear quickly...might be worth investing in a second set of track tyres if you want to go regulary.
Brakes - front pads - 3 track days and 10k miles may be possible, M3 has been eating 1 set per track day with about 200 miles on track. Its a heavier car though....
If anyone says tyres will last longer they are lying and are not putting enough effort in to try and kill the tyres!! Lift off oversteer should be the FR's middle name!!
On a fun note the head of driving at Bedford autodrome said the following to me while at a recent track day in the M3 "we have an FR on test here (petrol) as we are always looking for new training cars etc, and im very impressed - it has to be one of the best handling road cars we have ever tested" He then went on to say "...shame weve just toasted the gearbox on it"

took my FR TDI on a tracknight at Knockhill and it was fine, no probs with tyre wear or with the brakes it was pissin down too, stay of the white chevrons though if wet back was a bit twitchy.
How much do track days cost- is it charged per lap or what?
I'm presuming you get through a lot of petrol and need to put quite a wedge of cash aside for wear and tear stuff (tires etc).
