:think:It's probably because the new Leons depreciate so dramatically and the first owner has had all the squeeks and rattles fixed.

Basically you'll get a bargain if you buy one a couple of years old, and lose a load of cash if you buy new

Have to say didn't realize the second hand prices were quite so low

Bought mine at 3 years old. £28k brand new fully specced up, I paid £13.5k!

Leon is actually not too bad residual wise, look at a Vauxhall Astra

Our Tiguan has been hit hard being a VW and a derv - even though we got 6K off list. The Leon I have on order I got 5K off list price, so you can see why first year depreciation is so savage...

Cars do seem to be depreciating faster, possibly due to the high number of new cars bought over the past few years and the pre-reg bonanza used by dealers to hit new sales targets for a tasty bonus, that they then sold on cheaply, hitting used values further.

My view is the number of Lease cars that are now starting to flood the second hand market. They are selling lots and lots of cars (at discounted prices) and that has an impact on the second hand market.

I don't usually pay much attention to such articles but there's been a few in the media recently singing the Leons praises as a used purchase.

The Daily Record (scottish tabloid) had a one a few weeks back. It was brought to my attention when I was round visiting the parents. My dad (cynical Ford owner) pipes up "it say's here your car is quite good"
Me - "yeah, that's why i bought it"
Dad - "says here 1.6 diesel with 110bhp - must be nippy"
Me - "mines is the 2l with 180"
Dad - :-o
