Aux Port

Hi all,

This is my first post on here as just brought a 57 plate mk2. It is all good but I have a small issue.

I have an Aux port on the centre section and the stereo says CD/Aux and MP3 on it too but I can't seem to get the Aux port to work. When I press the CD/Aux button it just beeps and says no CD. I have pressed twice etc, no luck. I read on here about pressing the prog button and shifting through to the end to active it, but I don't have that option.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Martin

Hmm is it possible its had an aftermarket stereo in it at some point? Asking as its possible the cabling may have been messed about with which is causing the head unit not to recognise the AUX input. Your pressing the right buttons so it should really work.

Yes I did a search earlier but no-one really gave an answer. I phoned SEAT and they said bring it in and we'll have a look. But it's getting to the dealers during the day.

I'm not sure if it's had another stereo in as I don't know the history of the car unfortunately. I can remove it and have a look. Does anyone know where to get some removal keys from? I guess EBay. And how to do it?

Thanks

Yeah checking the connection is probably best start.
Find which keys are cheapest on the internet, try and stop by a dealer and see if they will pop it out for you if you can find the time, or see if anyone in your area on this forum might be able to pop it out for you.

Very nice generous bunch of characters on here.

Yeah tried that but no option there. See I was thinking a fuse but apparently that wouldn't have one. The other reason it could be that the stereo needs a software update?

Ok, I've decided to maybe try and pull it all apart. The Aux port, will that just come out with a flat head screw driver?

The stereo, I have looked at the FAQ and that sounds a bit more tricky. So I'll try the Aux port first.

Would it be possible to test it with a amp meter etc?

Did you get this working? I picked up my 08 Leon yesterday and with the aux port.

The stereo has no option to turn AUX on/off

Was it a software/coding issue?

Hi,

Yes that was exactly it. Funny enough I only got it sorted last week. I took it to a guy in Rainham, Kent. rainhamgarage.co.uk

He is a VAG specialist and concentrates mainly on the software side of things and uses the same software as the main dealers.

He backed up my coding and then changed the code to one he had used previously on a Leon and job done, works perfectly now! He charged £30 + VAT, so £36. I'm well pleased with that.

That's great news.

I'll ring some garages and later and know what it should cost and what's needed.

cheers

Yeah no worries.

Though other places were charging a lot more, double in fact. Though one garage said it would be £50 but in that they will run a full diagnostics scan on the car too.

Well its something I'd want doing anyway I think one way or another. Picked this car up to get me to my new job and its 1 hr each way. Radio can be pretty bad and I haven't bought a cd for a while with me being all be modern and that.

Couple of places have said its a dealership issue so far. I'm not thinking dealership anything on an 08 car to be honest. AWA call back from a guy who's mate used to work for Seat.....

once it gets up to a certain price I guess it would be cheaper to look at after market options. Would be nice to keep it simple though.

Yeah I wanted it mainly to listen to TalkSport as the AM signal in the car is terrible! I now connect a personal DAB radio and it works brilliantly. But also I can connect IPOD etc too.

I searched on the net for VAG diagnostics Kent. Or VAG-COM Kent or VAG specialists in Kent. Obviously substitute Kent for wherever you are.

You need someone with the dealer software or VAG-COM and it is a real simple job for them to just re-code the radio. So a VAG specialist would have that software. Main dealers wanted £80 to investigate then £60 to code, I was like, er, no chance.

I did read somewhere that it can become uncoded when someone has disconnected or changed the battery.

Would be easy if I was in Kent mate then I know where I could take it ;-)

Bit of a trip from Barnsley though.

Ive had some battery issues over the years... pick the car up after some welding etc and the stereo just says CODE.... Nooooo!

will stick it on here if I have any joy.
