Hey guys!

Just bought myself a 2011 Leon Cupra R in Sprint blue =)
Figured i should share how i did when fixing my damaged Wheels.
Anyway, the previous owner wasn´t that good at parking on the street, so the wheels was damaged.

Here is some of the damage:

So, i figured i could just fix it myself at low cost but still get a good result.
After a thorough cleaning with various degreasers, acids and other deadly things, i filled the damaged areas with chemical metal.

Then i sanded it down to a smooth Surface, and finished it of sanding the whole wheel with 400 grit sandpaper.

When done, i sprayed them with 1K (1 Component) filler/primer.

When it had dried completely, i sprayed the wheels with 2K paint. RAL 9011, graphite black.

The result!

So, what do you think? Have i ruined the wheels or is it acceptable? :funk:

They look good buddy, I rubbed mine back with wet and dry before painting with colour. Are you going to lacquer them? If you are get a very fine sand paper on them, then lacquer. I did 4-5 Coates of lacquer so I could sand them back and polish them up with a cutting compound.

They look really well, gives the standard wheel a better look and painting is a lot cheaper than buying a new set of wheels.

Cheers mate =)

No, its a solid (not sure its called that in English) color, not metallic. And since its a 2K-paint you dont need any lacquer, it stays glossy anyway. But, if you do apply lacquer you will achieve a greater depth in the color, and as you said, you will be able to polish up a greater shine.. But honestly, i´m to lazy to go with lacquer, thats why i choosed this paint :p

I painted my roofspoiler last week (metallic), but messed up big time during polish. Went thru the lacquer and in to the paint, so on friday i have to repaint it.. So im starting to get tired at painting now .

Well thank you =)

Yes, i looked at a new set of (aftermarket) Wheels, but with tires they started at around 10.000 Crowns, probably around 900£.. The paint and sandpaper costed me aprox. 100£ =)

No work when it snows? I'll move to your place! Haha.. No its not that bad here either, but the law here says you've got to have approved tyres for winter. So everyone got to have two sets of wheels, so i figured it was the right time to paint them, since I'm not allowed to use them until april 1st..

We can work in it, I'm a bricklayer and the frost can kill the cement so it does not harden properly, building regulations say temperature has to be +3 and rising.we done have that here but then again our winters are not really as bad as some country's.

Okay i see.. Sounds reasonable.
Most people here use studded tyres, But i got these brand new when i bought the car (unstudded/friction), so i dont feel like buying new ones right now.

On the wheels i've painted was the stock pirellis mounted, and finished, so i have to buy some rubber for them now. Thinking of Hankook K-120 EVO 2, but haven't decided yet..

You wouldnt be laying many bricks in Sweden then! Only been +3 once in the last 3 weeks with -26 being the lowest

I feel stupid mentioning our winter troubles to my Swedish mate :)

Good job on the rims, be good to see some better quality pics and on the car when the winters come off.
Fancy paying my mate a visit? He doesnt think the Cupra is better than his Saab :)

Wheels look good. Did you paint them with a rattle can?

No, with a rattlesnake :p

Yeah man, these are the cans i used:

And now i took a close up picture today, painted yesterday:

The Surface is really shiny and smooth. On some places, mayby i should have used more filler, but overall i´m pleased with the result.
The key to get the Surface smooth with spraycans is to paint wet-in-wet, but still avoid getting to much paint on.
