Cupra back bumper

Forge Split-R

Today I mounted a Forge Split-R and I ve done the N249 mod

ForgeDV.jpg

The sound is a bit disappointing. Maybe it gets better when I get my remap.

Also I mounted my Alpine HU today with Ipod interface adapter and I began to mount my JBL compo speakers in the doors.

And just made an appointment with JD engineering. The best 1.8 20vt remapper from the Netherlands
13 august is my time!! I'll get a custom remap at a dyno.

08-08-2008
I mounted an original pre-facelift FR bumper on my Ibiza. With the cupra bumper I don't have a good working intercooler and than the custom remap would not be the effort.

Also got my turbo pressure gauge and oil temperature gauge mounted.

Bought a Pipercross foam filter
Pipercross.jpg

13-08-2008

Visited JD Engineering today!!

He also programmed the car so I don't need my air flow meter anymore. Right now I can let my Blow Off Valve, blow off all air without any problems.

This is the result of JD:

JDUitdraai.jpg

The Torque really is amazing. The top performance could be better, but than I would have to mount another exhaust and a front mounted intercooler. I'm really happy with the results of this standard FR.

Now doing:
214 HP @ 4800 rpm
341 Nm @ 3300 rpm

The Previous owner of my Seat Ibiza FR 1.8 20vt with smic, mounted an Cupra bumper on the car, but as I was planning to get a custom remap at a dyno, I had to find a solution to get back a good working intercooler. A front mounted intercooler from Forge or the original one from a Cupra (D) cost over a 1000 Euro without mounting. So I modded the Cupra bumper to get some cold air into the smic.

To make sure my modifications work, I've done some logging with Vag-com of the inlet temperature with my pre-facelift FR bumper and the Cupra bumper

First I drove my car easy to normal work temperature (About 95°C on my oil temperature meter). Then I make sure my laptop was ready to log group 4 of Vag-com. This group logs the engine RPM against the inlet temperature. Then drove to 1000 rpm in third gear an than floored to 6500 rpm. All logs were done on the same day with the same outside air temperature and humidity on the same road.

- FR Bumper log 1 - Outside: 19°C - Oil: 97°C - Water: 97°C
- FR Bumper log 2 - Outside: 19°C - Oil: 100°C - Water: 100°C
- Cupra Bumper log 1 - Outside: 19°C - Oil: 97°C - Water: 97°C
- Cupra Bumper log 2 - Outside: 19.5°C - Oil: 100°C - Water: 96°C

templog.jpg

As you can see the inlet tempereture get's much higher on the second run with both bumpers. Can you imagine how much power loss this gives when you step on it for only ones.. I did not do a third run, but it could be the power loss would even be more as the turbo warms up the intake air even more when the engine is getting warmer and warmer. This also is because I modified my car to run on much higher turbo pressure and the intercooler is not optimal for that amount of air.

The best thing is that it's very clear that the intercooler does a better job with the Cupra bumper mounted, as it is with an original FR bumper. All my work was not for nothing.

Repaired the FR rim. It was damaged when I bought my Ibiza. Click on the picture for a before/afte gallery.

New Tyres. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3 in 215 40 ZR16

FRWaalhaven284629s.jpg

With the new tyres I went to an truck weigh plate to weigh the car. It is 1220 kg with a full gastank. After that I calibrated the Gtech Pro RR to performe a proper measurement. The results are amasing. Not all run's are finished all the way, some times I had te loose the gas early, that's why there are differences in the quartermile times. Outside air temperature was 19°C

Mounted an ATP 3 inch decat downpipe.

Removed second lambda sonde.

Without remapping done some sprinting from 80 to 120 km/h
http://www.seat-online.nl/forum/index.php/topic,45249.600.html

The first movies shows that VCDS is right and gives the exact same speed as GPS. The car itself till 100km/h has 2,5 km/h difference, and above 100km/h the car has a 5 km/h difference with GPS speed.

Best viewed at 200%

120 km/h on GPS -> 125km/h in car

80 km/h on GPS -> 82,5km/h in car

80-120 km/h in 3,1 seconds.

80-120 in 3 in 3,1 seconde (ook met de stopwatch gemeten in 3,1s)

And a 100 to 160 km/h

06-03-09
Mounted a Milltek 2.5 inch Catback Exhaust

17-03-09
Done some small changes. Changed oil with Kendall Elite 5W50 racing oil an mounted NGK BKR7E bougies.

Car is remapped again!!

251HP and 405Nm torque.

While remaping there were some trouble with the fuel system. The original injectors couldn't give enough fuel. This is why the car is now limited at 6000 revs.
I bought some Genisis 550cc dual spray injectors. They will arrive in 3 weeks. The car will be remapped after.

Changed suspension to KW Variant 2. A Seat Sport strut brace is ordered as well.

This was it for now. Plannings for the near futere are to mount some 20mm H&R spacers on the FR rims and to buy the best tires there are in 205/45/16 because it is really hard to get all power on the road on wet days.

What on earth do you feed that thing? 108 octane? :p That engine must be running some serious boost to get that old k03s to deliver this much power!

The boost at 3000 rpm is 21.7 to 22.5 psi (1.5 to 1.55 bar). Together with that 3 inch downpipe gives that amount of torque.

The boost at 6000 rpm is still between 15 and 16 psi. (1 to 1.1 bar), which gives the high BHP.

Running on octane 98, but with a very large intercooler.

And I have got a very good remap from TVS Engineering in Aalten (Netherlands).

Not really. Here in the Netherlands a lot people drive with there turbo on the max.

And actually, if it blows up, it's a good excuus for the misses that I'll need to buy an IHI, Garret or K04s
