Hi all getlemen! It's nice to be back on the forums!

I bought this mk2 leon used some weeks ago. It was advertised with having a DPF but I've read around that the BKD engine never came out with a DPF. The legal papers say it has one.

How do I check if it has a DPF? Should I have some light on the dash indicating it?

Thanx in advance

Thankx.
When I turn the ignition on, all the lights light up but I don't have that one. Is that one supposed to lit when one turns the ignition on?

Just to clear up things, it would be great NOT to have it!

I just checked and I can see it. Barely, but it's there. Never lit up since I got the car [less than one month].
I guess that it's also possible tho that the dash is the same for all leons, not? I guess for example, on the dash of petrol leons you cand find the glow plug light, only it's not used. This could be the same case.

There's a reason I'm thinking this: my car has a BKD engine [16v] and the only 140's I've read about on the net that have a DPF are 8v with engine code BMM. Or so they say on the net.

I've never seen or heard of a BKD engine with a dpf.

giveaway clues in the engine bay are the 4 sensor plugs on the baulkhead near the battery check this link to one of my old threads:

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=234399

seat only ever used the 2.0 tdi in the leon with a dpf in 2 forms:

1 - the BMN engine code 170bhp 2.0 16v tdi as used throughout the fr range

2 - the BMM engine code 140bhp 2.0 8v tdi as used in the rest of the seat range (but only fitted with this engine if it was specifically ordered, it was not a mandatory product)

some of the other 1.9 pd engines such as the BLS also had a dpf.

there is no mention of a dpf in any of the tech manuals reffering to the bkd lump.

Thank you, I'll check and report back.

I'm beginning to think that maybe the previous owner did a retrofit job on the car. Which means I'm even more motivated on removing it.
