After i bought the leon a few months back theres been one thing pissing me off....... the lack of gas struts to hold bonnet open. my 2000 306 had these, and a 2007 leon doesnt?

anyway has anyone added gas struts to a leon before, is there a size/ strength needed?

It can be done but you need to weld plates onto the bonnet!

I wanted to do it but decided against it

Thats from a Leon Supercopa, it was factory built like that, same as the WTCC and BTCC cars

Alex@ AKS has done this mod on a Leon

I've done mine, no welding at all I just made some brackets that bolt on and best of all didn't even have to drill any holes.

Pictures, i would prefer a welded one

Reason: i can see me slamming it down one night, the bolt coming un done, and the strut damaging the bonnet

Bolts are thread locked I can't see them ever coming undone unless someone puts a spanner to them.
Didn't fancy welding mine
