Car broke down tonight, low coolant light came on and most of it had gone. Seat assist advised to top up with water to get it home and it will get looked at tomorrow. It has done 19k miles and was only serviced a few weeks back

Bit worrying as our previous car, an A1 1.6tdi broke down on 3 separate occasions for the same thing! And that was never fixed despite several visits to Audi, so frustrated that it's happening again! Any ideas what it could be? Faulty water pump?

Sensible thing to do is a visual check of all the hoses from the radiator for leaks, it may be a loose connection or a split pipe.

Top Up the water in the coolant, run the engine up to temperature on your drive, turn it off & watch for leaks.......

Could be from anywhere, but if you end up with a puddle of water under your car, while watching, at least you'll have an idea where it's leaking from

Lots of people here had sudden coolant drop, mine dropped well below the min mark a few weeks ago, topped it up and had no issues since. General feeling is there's an airlock in the system somewhere when they come out the factory which eventually works its way out.

Could you clarify gone? All gone from the whole engine or just from the coolant reservoir?

Just from the reservoir. Seat assist has been very good so far, taken to the garage and an Ibiza courtesy car provided without any hassle. Just hope it gets sorted quickly. Initial look suggests radiator leak but they will look properly at the garage.

Could be water pump issues - there have been a few issues posted here

Same thing on mine, had a warning light flash on dash saying coolant low, checked bottle and it was near empty, topped it up and it's being fined since,
