18" Alloy - correct size?

I'm looking to get a new set of alloys, but am unsure of some of the sizes.

Looking to put 225/40R18 tyers on them.

I have found a set:

Rim Width: 8J
Rim Diameter: 18 inches
Offset: 40
Number of Studs: 5
Stud Diameter: 112

The bit that confuses me is the stud diameter should it be 112 or 100?

Another set I have found are these: CLICK
Would they fit? What do they mean by "Fitments available 5x100/57-1 et35" ?

If anyone could explain any of the above that would be great (I have never bought Alloys before  ).

Cheers.

The 18's that come with my Ref Sport are "Alloy wheel 7.5x18", ET-54, 5x112 fitment". Details taken from Seat.com

So 18*8 should be ok, but recommend a test fit first.

Woah... track back a bit here. Can you explain what is meant by "fitment" and "et"? ....et45 mean tyre thickness I think but what does the "et" bit mean?

What does OFFSET (et) mean?

Your car requires a unique offset. This is where the wheel will sit in relation to the bodyline of the vehicle, realistically you can go 5-7mm outside these recommendations, but always consult a technician if you are unsure, as there are often other factors that need to be considered. Offset is usually stamped on the wheel and is measured in millimetres of et (et is the short form of the German word 'Einpresstiefe' which literally translates as insertion depth).

Also I have calculated that if my current tyres are 205/55 R16, then the best R18 upgrade for me would be 225/40 R18 (Alloy 8x18 5x112) as this would give a difference in circumference of 16.65mm or 0.84%

So a et45 would mean that the wheel would protrude (be positioned) 45mm outward? Anyone have some pics of different offsets on the Leon?

Am I correct or can anyone come up with something better?

if the original wheel is 17x7.5 with et54, and my new wheel is 18x8.5 with et45, than you have 1/2inch wider at each side, and we are looking to outside... so (2.54/2)+0.9cm=2,17cm is wheel more to outside
