ABF engined gearbox codes

As per the title help required, I've brought an ABF engine and gearbox out of a '95 golf. The code on the gearbox reads DPA, as far as I know they tend to be CDA items fitted on these engines but I have also been told the some were fitted with the DPA which has a 3.94 ratio opposed to the 3.6 on the CDA. Can anyone comfirm this?

Many thanks.:)

CDA box diff/ratios

diff 3.68
1st 3.31
2nd 1.94
3rd 1.31
4th 1.03
5th 0.84

not got a listing for the DPA but if it is 3.94 it will accelerate quicker but be a tad annoying on the motorway iirc around 4k rpm at 80 mph on std tyres and flat out be about 130mph

theres a 4.25 in some of em too that must be well mad

ill keep digging on the DPA box though might be out of another model

found it DPA Golf ABF 2.0 16v 05/96 - 12/97

lists same gears and diff ratios as a CDA - and cable change too - looks like the golfs successor to the CDA and the only thing i can think of as different is maybe hydraulic clutch operation instead ? got any pics ?

PS- same main shaft and 100mm d/shaft bits too

Found them, but doesn't help much:

02A Gerbox was fitted to Golf II G60, G60 Rallye (4wd), Corrado 2.0l 16V (ABF engine), Corrado G60, Corrado VR6, Golf III 2.0 16V and Golf III VR6 an Seat Ibiza Mk2 GTI 16V (and CUPRA 16V) and Passat 16V (2.0 ABF engine probably).
There is a hell of different versions around with different gear ratios and final drives. There should be a 3 letter code on the casing (up side where the bellhousing meets the engine) that defines each version. Below I attach a list of all versions known (at least to me).
Best set to use though are the ATA,AGC,AYL or AYK which come from corrado G60 or passat 16v. Much shorter than standard 16V. Should feel like a 30bhp boost in performance comparison. If you also get the Corrado G60 flywheel which is around 3 lbs lighter then you are in a different league altogether

Thanks for your replys, the gearbox looks the same as a CDA, spoke to Vince at Stealth Racing and he has comfirmed that a DPA is another gearbox that was used on the ABF engined cars and that it the final drive is shorter geared than the CDA item, thus 130mph top end.:)
