Aircon causing limp mode.

When i turn my aircon on my car almost always goes into limp mode, any ideas on what could be causing this?

limp mode? i presume you mean the revvs drop?

Well yeah the revs drop as normal when the aircon kicks in but the car goes into limp mode ie. only 6psi of boost instead of the usual 22 psi.

Hmmmm...when the air-con is does the air feel cold?

Yeah the aircon is working perfectly.

very odd?! Might be worth getting your compressor checked over coz it might be on its way out...Not 100% certain coz i tend to steer clear of working on car a/c coz its all a big bag of s***!

Rich - you got vag-com? Might save you a lot of guessing if it's throwing an error code.

If no error codes, go for a drive, get passenger to do some logging, and get them to switch aircon on and see what happens.

How are you getting out of limp mode - do you turn ignition on/off again? Or does turning the aircon off immediately let the car boost again?

I haven't got vagcom, i couldn't get it to work on my laptop
To get out of limp mode i have to turn the ignition off then back on.

Thought i'd update this.
The aircon isn't causing limp mode anymore, i replaced a silicon hose that had a split on its connection and JKM found a wire with a bad loose connection. Also they checked for fault codes and there wasn't even 1, lol. So all's good
