Firstly I have never had a problem with this head unit at all. But....

Today I went to the football and decided that I should remove the round anti theft unit on the Alana head unit. I think that this facility was discontinued as my GF's dad's Ibiza is the same unit without the anti theft panel.

I got back in and plugged it back in. However, lights on and it lit up but the unit would not switch on. So I took it out, and put it back in. Now, lights on the rest of the unit but none on the anti theft unit and the warning NO PANEL when you try and switch on the unit.

So, no sounds on the way home. Checked the handbook and it says just try to plug back in but nothing.

Any ideas???? Or is it knacked.

I would guess one of the pins isn't lining up - I haven't even had an Alana in my car for a while now, let alone used the anti-theft panel, so I can't be sure, never had any issues with mine though. Check the pins, look for anything in the slots in the HU.

No pins on it at all - just a plastic disc with plastic inserts which seem to line up on rubber prongs in the HU.

Frustrating that this seems to lead me to buying a new HU. Becker maybe?
