Anyone had an alloy refurb and how did it come out well? A garage damaged one of my wheels offered to repair thought it be small repair as damage not major but after dropping the wheel to them on Tues and not hearing anything I chased today and was told they had issues matching paint as so new and was told may be get it back next Tues, if I had known it needed repainting I would of lived with damage. Currently can't drive car far as using space saver.

At least you have a space saver, no such luck with the hybrid!
I bought the dealers demonstrator (V2, 19" wheels) at 9 months old, less than 5k miles. They said they had the alloys refurbished and they looked mint tbh. Well I managed to very lighty kerb the nearside front when someone pulled across infront of me! I took the car to a highly recommended diamond cut alloy repairer and they said they couldn't match the black so all 4 alloys would need to be stripped and repainted. So I had a cheapo smart repair done which looks OK from a distance but isn't aging too well.
Anyway, I managed to buy 2 virtually new ones very cheaply but some idiot had scuffed the inner barrel whilst removing the tyres. The faces are immaculate though. I got them back home only to find that the matt/silk black is totally different to those on my car.
Upshot is I'm still at a loss what to do and I have 2 lovely alloys I dont know what to do with. I'll be interested how you get on.

Hi this is my fear it won't match and will actually end up looking worse than the small amount of damage the tyre fitter did on the face of the wheel. Looking on ebay I see alot Cupra Formentor / Cupra Leon mk4 alloys with minor damage you would think could be refurb'd easily so may be the paint matching is the issue and people are just cutting there loses and replacing with new. I don't really expect the tyre fitting place to replace with new and very much doubt they would, would asking them to be OTT? Though they said they would repair they still deny it was them but I know it wasn't damaged but don't have photo evidence to proof it, they also scuffed bumper but I touched that up and broke the plastic thing that holds the space saver in.

Diamond cut alloys are a pita if they get damaged. There are plenty of folk on here who have said the same in other threads.
I doubt they'd buy you a new wheel due to the cost (mine are over £800 per corner). No harm in asking though.

I'd (love to 😉 ) rather have a spare in the shed rather than some goo in the boot.
Got a VZ3 310 with Brembos so a space saver will only fit on the rear anyway 🙈.

At least with a full size spare in the shed just get Recovery to home you get to choose the rubber rather than lucky did at the tyre emporium when you get a flat.

Sorry about your old dear..
With the wheels as they damaged the one and cannot match paint up, what about having the set refinished as it’s not your fault they can’t match paint and say they need to pay??

I finally got the refurbished alloy back yesterday and to my surprise they have done a really good job, you can't tell its refurbished and the black matt / sparkley finish matches other wheels. They had the wheel for 10 days in the end which was a pita and they said colour match was an issue / first time they had one in for refurb but they seemed to have nailed it, refurbish placed based in St Albans will get name and update here. I noticed you can also now buy the Cupra black wheel paint from wheelpaints.co.uk.

I have just had an alloy wheel (V2) repaired in 1 day. Excellent job and good price at a firm local to me in the Watford area.

I have the vz3 and numerous reports, including from the local dealership is that the alloy cover I purchased when I bought the car is a waste of money. The dealer said they've had multiple reports that companies are unable to match the copper colour on the alloy and instead the policy company have just offered a refund on the premium. I've not made enquiries with Cupra directly yet but surely there must be a paint code that can assist with matching the colour?

It is indeed a waste of money. I found out the hard way after some berk pulled out from behind a parked furniture van just a few weeks after took delivery of my VZ2. No way a smart repair would have fixed it, and I needed an alignment on top. I checked the alloy policy and looks like you’ll need to send the wheel(s) away, to where and to whom I know not, and there’s a limit on the budget.

I have a local Wheel Specialist franchise near me, so I took it there. Expensive, and they keep the car (or wheel(s)), but worth it. Really friendly, really helpful.

Nightmare when these wheels get damaged. I've had a look on Erwin and there are 2 paint codes for the copper wheels. These are:

Black CUP COOPER LXEB

Black CUP COOPER LXUU

I know it says COOPER but I assume they mean COPPER! Happy to send the paint codes pdf to anyone who wants it. Hope this helps.
