I have just ordered some stuff from rally design to build a brake bias pedal box for my ibiza the main reasons for this are
1) the 20v turbo engine hit the cam pully so want to free up space and remove servo
2) I am fitting brembo brakes to the car and want adjustable bias (front / rear)

I have had this system before on a 205gti and they take some getting used to and strong leg muscles,

I just wondered if anyone has done this before or tried it i will post some pics of the bits when i get them and when i have built the pedal box also

the cam pully hits the side of the master cylinder (about the last 15mm) of it, if i raise the engine up slightly it clears but dont want to risk it would rather move the mastercylinders clear of it, have spoke to various conversion specialists who say there is a similar problem on mk2 golfs.
and i like the idea of being able to adjust front to rear brake balance

why not just use Mk3 Ibiza engine mounts & not loose the servo?

I've drive non servo'd road cars & a non servo'd tin top car - one was awesome, one wasn't.

both needed me to stand on the pedal to get it to stop - I suggest that if you're intending to drive your car on the road, you retain the servo, else you won't have the strength in your leg after 0.5 mile in traffic to operate it.

had a biast pedal box before in a 205 and i got used to it its gonna be a weekend car really due to the fuel consumption etc

BE A BIT CAREFUL!

One of the checks on the MOT test is for "brake servo present if originally fitted to the vehicle" This didn't used to be a problem, as the tester could use common sense, and if the vehicle easily passed the brake efficiency test then they didn;t fail you on it. Now, however, since the introduction of the computerised test, where the tester is lead through the test sequence, they are prompted to check for a servo as a specific point, and will have to tick "not present" if there isnt one, hence you fail (even if you brakes are perfectly legal / powerful etc)

I am having to fit a brake servo to my rally ibiza, even though it actually makes the car dangerous to drive )(as it will just lock all 4 wheels with a slight tap on the brake pedal even at 100 mph! (378mm dia 6 pot AP racing fronts, 330mm 4 pot AP racing rears!!)

Another case of comon sense taking a back seat, and simply following blinkers-on the letter of the law, irrespective of the actual safety or otherwise of the vehicle in question.

thanks for the advice i had a bias set up on a 205 about 18months ago and that got throught the mot fine dunno when the law changed tho i always believed that bias adjustment wasn't strictly legal on a road car, bad news that you've got to change yours back to servo mate you got any pics of your pedal assembly?

I would have though a Cupra master cylinder would have been easier but fair play.

My cam pulley is close to the master cyinder, seems to habe been sorted by machining the end corner off the cylinder and now it clears with about 5-10mm clearance.

mine actually hit and the master cylinder is quite short anyway, i played with the original master cylinder but the wall was only about 3mm thick so was no good, and also didn't want it to colide if the engine mount got weak or failed, good to see another 20v turbo car on here

I would also like an answer to this question, i have 312mm AP 4POTs on my cupra, they are great, insanly powerful look uber sexy etc, but i do have to push on the pedal harder than before, not noticably really, but when i drive my mk4 golf i quite like the really light brakes it has.

Could i get a bigger master, if so which?
Or a new servo, this is a new idea... any suggestions?

I think i am going to sell my big brakes soon if anyone is interested PM me. looking for around £500 all in.
