Anyone know if its possible to get automatic lights and wipers on the seat ibiza mk4?

I've seen a few kits for the wipers but none for headlights

Thanks in advance,
Martin

I'm not sure...but possibly VAG COM may get into auto lights, but not sure about wipers. Friend of mine used to work with diagnostics and he set his VW Touran up with "dealer option" get you home lights & auto central locking above 10 mph. His local dealer wanted serious pennies for this & he readapted the Touran in about 20 mins with a Bosch KTS 200.....

I think maplins do a cheap little kit for both that you make up youself...

I'd agree with this answer, remember, if you are trying to "get" automatic wipers, then you would need to have the correct rear view mirror and other bits fitted already.

I've always fancied auto lights as long as they are reliable.

Lots of people hate rain sensing wipers, but I got them spec'd on both our cars and they are usually okay - now and again they drive you mad by either "being late" or running flat out for short periods - by mainly they are "good" and useful.

I had the factory-fit rain sensing wipers on my Mk4, and they worked brilliantly. When I ordered them I was a bit sceptical they'd be of much use, but now I wouldn't be without them. I've had them on both Passats since (it's exactly the same unit).

The sensor is attached to the rear-view mirror housing, and the rain-sensing wiper option meant you got an auto-dimming rear view mirror too.

With a bit of work looking up the parts in ETKA you might be able to get everything you need, although cars that had it factory-fitted had a small round shallow recess in the windscreen glass for the stick-on sensor to sit in, not sure how well it would work if you fitted it to a normal screen.

to do it you whould need a shed load of wiring, new windscreen, new mirror (which is £250ish), the sensor and iirc a new light switch. i looked into this a while back and it was silly expensive to retofit to an ibiza

mine was a small project kit thing for about £5, velleman something but from maplins

i made it and tested it but would need the sensor wiring up externally, i just taped it to the pillar for test but they make a proper retail kit now it seems :)

here's the kit

http://www.esr.co.uk/velleman/mk125.htm

sensor is bottom left so i added wires in so i could switch and adapt it while i was playing with it on a battery

for wipers i used the same controller but with a water sensor, not as advanced as a standard one but again as it was adjustable for the lights i could tweak it to set the intermittent off when it detected water

bit crude but it worked
