chipping vs larger turbo

Am thinking to buy a Leon...but...

Can anyone advise if it is better to chip a Leon FR to say 250 hp or simply buy a Cupra which has the higher hp and larger turbo?

Why did SEAT not just chip FRs instead of going thru the new head, larger turbo, strengthening engine bits etc to end up with a Cupra?

...to clarify...

Choice is stock 2009 Leon FR 197 hp or stock 2009 Leon Cupra 237 hp...

1st question..

which is preferable to go for? i.e. to chip the stock FR to 250 hp or stick with stock Cupra at 237 hp (and do no mods at all to the Cupra)? ...dont worry about DSG vs manual, not an issue for me...just wanna know peoples advice about whether to chip an FR or go for a Cupra...

2nd question...

why did SEAT or the VAG group modify the 2.0 TFSI engine of the FR for the Leon Cupra by giving it a new cyl head, larger turbo etc when they could have simply remapped the 2.0 TFSI to increase the HP from 197 to 237 hp?

Probably a large part of it is the tuning potential. If you could buy an FR and turn it into a cupra simply with a remap how many would bother paying the premium for the cupra?

By making the Cupra very tuneable they keep the market that would otherwise have gone for a remapped FR.

The other thing of course is that from the factory these things have to be kept within very safe limits for the sake of durability, that's why a remap may invalidate your warranty, because it places extra stress on the components.
