I'm guessing here mate but 99% certain that it means you can flick the main lights on when you get out the car at night and they will light your way to the front door.

You might of noticed the light bleeper doesnt bleep when you have left the dipped beam on, only the sidelights.

This is because if you leave the headlights on and lock the car, the headlights will stay on only for a few minutes to light the way to your front door. :)

In my LeonFR 2.0 TDI
i didnt think of actually leaving the lights on when parking up, ive always turned them off before getting out the car, wondered wtf "comming home" was.

like if you press and hold the lock button i knew the windows do up, i only found out yesterday that the mirrors will fold up aswell, i usually fold them before getting out the car,. hence only just finding out it did it.

anyone found out how to make the stereo backlight stay on without the lights turned on, like the old leon? that i think is the only thing i miss, and my missing yet on the site 2nd lighter socket.

my sport has the light/rain sensors fitted and i know that if i leave the lights in auto mode then whenever its dark out and you unlock the car then the lights come on. When you stop and its dark then the same thing happens - the lights stay on for a short time. I would guess that this is the same effect you would get with having the lights turned on in a car without the auto function.

another cool bit ive noticed is in the setup menu on the trip computer you can alter the length of time they stay on for from between 0 to 60 seconds (in 10 second jumps). This is on the larger display (has bluetooth fitted) so i dont know if its the same on all vehicles

Stuart - when you have taken the keys out of the ignition and you are getting out the car, flick the light stalk as if flashing for main beam - that should then switch the headlights on for a pre-determined period of time to help you get to your door at night.
