Wondering if anyone knows the definitive answer to this one please.
My newer laptop sees and happily connects to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks from my wifi router. My older laptop, the one I tend to use more than the other, sees only the 2.4GHz network. Would it be a simple swap of the LAN card to a dual band version to get this laptop to see 5GHz as well as the 2.4GHz, or is it motherboard/bios/processor controlled too?
Laptop in question is an HP Pavilion 15-e series, with AMD processor.
Thanks in advance

May want to Google to confirm but I thought that WiFi cards can be upgraded but your issue is knowing form factor of the card to replace it with, then on top of that you'd need to know what sort of antennas are on the laptop (not the card) as most 2.4ghz cards only needed one but AC for example will need 2 to function properly.

I'd suggest maybe disconnecting/uninstall
the driver on the on-board card and just buying a USB WiFi adapter that has AC and then you don't need to faf around lol

Hope that helps
