Hi

The inside drivers door handle has stopped working on my Ibiza 6J. I’m assuming something had come disconnected or a cable has stretched etc.

I’m stuck trying to get to the back of the handle! I’ve removed half the door trim, but the other half seems to be attached somewhere still, but I can’t see where! There is a little up and down movement in it, but it doesn’t want to come off. Any suggestions???

Removing the door card is quite a hassle. You’ll need to either remove the window or tape it to this you need to undo 2 bolts on the regulator. In the picture on the top right of the card you see the silver nut and on the left there is a black nut you need to loosen them. Then the 2 screws on the bottom of the door need to come out an inch or 2 but don’t fully unscrew them as it is really finicky trying to get the window regulator back in. There is a tutorial on the forum somewhere which I’ll try link as it probably sounds more confusing than it actually is.

Thanks for the reply. Sadly I have already fully removed the long screws on the bottom of the door, but the window regulator is obviously still in place. Worth putting them back in before going any further??

I’d say put the screws back in. Will just make your life easier. It may look daunting to take off the door card but is fairly easy aside from the regulator. Just remember you need to unscrew those screws about an inch or two so that you can life the door card off. (It slides up then you pull it out towards you)
