Back from the dead
I've just been looking at the screenshots of this game and given my despair and boredom waiting for GT5 (now Sept 2010), I am going to buy an X-Box 360 Super Elite / Forza package from Dixons tonight.

Question for the uninitiated. Am I better off buying a console + the new Ltd Edition Forza 3, or does this version not really add much from the basic game?

Any additional extras I should be looking to purchase?

Cheers in advance

Warren

xbox live usually get afreebie card in with a new console

are you playing online or thinking about it ? network ? cable in rear is easy - adapter needed for wireless

i'll pass on the limited edition myself as i never bother as they all end up £9.99 in a basket eventually

Cheers Fl@pper, I will be playing online, and although the router is right above it, all the wired inputs are used for Plasma TV, PS3 and Apple TV so I will need to get wireless dongle. HDMI cable needed too by the looks of it. Maybe a spare controller battery.

On your instruction I'm going to give the Ltd Edition a miss and go for the Std in the pack.

Just seen the price of the wireless adaptor, that's robbery. I'm still going to buy a console, but with all the bolt ons it starts to make the PS3 look very reasonable. I'm tempted to switch the network cable between PS3 and X-box to save 40 odd quid.

Looking forward to getting online (which I presume costs too!), and take a pasting from you seasoned pro's :cartman:

You get a wired ethernet/network cable with the xbox anyway.

Also Im sure if you buy the Elite console (Black) you get the HDMI cable with it. Or is it just the ports?

Just the ports, no HDMI cable in the box.

I have the chance to buy an XBOX live Gold membership for £33 from Dixons. Is that a better / worse price than if I subscribe direct from Microsoft?

Cheaper than direct from MS, but you can get it a few quid cheaper from ebay (they email the codes)

You have time on your side, as you'll get a month FOC with teh console

I like my ltd ed R8, well worth it hahaha. The game is awesome though. You're the second person I've heard of considering a 360 because GT5 is actually never going to be out

£4.99 a month on an ad-hoc basis direct to MS which i know is dearer in the long run but can start/stop as i get bored with it then

the £33 is for 12 months advance i would imagine so is cheaper but in one go of course but a lot of juice in one go

check they still throw in a freebie month and buy it later if you want that much ahead after that

Just had the notification to say that it's being delivered on Friday afternoon

Oh to race at the 'Ring again. Haven't had that privilege since trading PS2 for PS3 back in 2007 :censored:

Wife's less than impressed by the fact we will now have all 3 consoles and questions the need. If PS3 didn't have blu-ray it could have well been on its way, but it's saved for now.

Can you surf t'internet on X Box 360?

EDIT: Can I use my Logitech Driving Force EX steering wheel I have for Gran Turismo with Forza? (it connects via USB).

I've only played for about an hour. With a newborn in the house it's not easy to find the time. :(

Already got my red LCR. :D
