Power Slipping

35000 mile, cupra'diesel mk4........no engine mods.

60-80mph in sixth....accelerating hard to modererate, and i feel a loss of power, like its gone out of gear? Is this 1) bad driving, lower gear required 2) clutch problem 3) something else.

If its the clutch is it too much torque being applied? ie get a better clutch or just it dying?

Is your TCS light flashing? i get this isnt cupra petrol, if too much torque applied, it cuts the power to stop spinning.........its horrid!

I would have said your clutch is slipping as 6th gear at 60-80 is right slap bang in the torque band of the derv engine

it will just get worse over time so go for an uprated clutch

You can drive around that if it's not to bad, just go up through the gears rather than planting your foot in top.

Or if cruising at 60, drop it 1 gear and then go.

Not that for a minute I think you go "Cruising" LOL
