Can anyone give me any info on powerflow exhausts?, im thinking of poping in to my local branch to have a custom cat back system made for my FR 1.8 20VT but was intrested to see if any people have had any problems or if the can give any good feedback. im wanting a nice exhaust tone but not to loud and looking for good power gains

Just go for a milltek or a blue flame, they are tried and tested, i had a powerflow exhaust on my 106 before my ibiza, i wasn't that impressed, the centre box was too low and kept catching on over speed bumps.

If you get a decent branch, you can't go wrong with a powerflow. If you get any problems like the above, simply take it back and get them to ammend it, which they will. I have had 4 in total now (all from the same branch) and have had no problems what so ever.

hard to say with powerflow as they are effectively one off each time, although with generic parts... so whether you get a good one often comes down to the the branch mechanic/fitter. Also they will do what you say or ask for, now whether that actually works with your car is another matter.

Id say if you want to go down this route you should do some homework on how you want it done. Then compare the quote to a system thats designed for the car and then think whether the difference is enough to warrant going for an unproven exhuast.

Also they do tend to be fairly loud.

well you can go too big... which may lose power...

it really needs to be 'matched'

also not sure on ibiza, does the exhaust go up over the axel?

on some leons that had larger pipe work it had to be reduced in size when going over the axel and so therefore its was a complete waste of time and was probably worse as it would disrupt the airflow

I had a powerflow on my corsa (yea yea ok....)
The reason I went for powerflow was because I wanted custom 'one off' and tbh because my mate knows the bloke there.

I will agreed it does depend on the michanic and my lot are wicked.Nothing is too big a job and it's always neat.
Sound wise it can be altered.Petrol Turbo cars better having 2 boxes to reduce sound but gives a nice growl.

I will be going bak to powerflow (eventually) for mine so I'll post then if people still asking.

My corsa cat back BTW quad exit 3x3in squares full fitting and bumper modification £450. Steep but if you saw it, it was great

I had a milltek, full system fitted n my fr, and it is fantastic, nice noise, sits well and have never had any problems what so ever. I think its a case of, you get what you pay for at the end of the day.

currently hull, then brighton!
My personal opinion is steer well clear, from the day i had mine fitted in redhill surrey i had continuous problems, as was previously stated alot depends on the fitter, but

My personal experience is:

The steel goes yellow in no time at all
The resonace of the exhaust inside the car is unbelievable and can give you a headache on long journeys
The quality of the fitting was questionable, rattles and clunks from underneath
Addition of a second silencer made very little difference to the noise, but did roll off the performance a bit
The exhaust tone changes dramatically once the car is warm and also gets way louder, (this thing would turn the heads of TVR drivers beleive me)

I then had it removed by JKM portsmouth and had a supersprint fitted, although i noticed a slight performance decrease i was far happier with the product, quiet under normal driving and then it bursts into life when you open the throttle.

My girlfriend has a powerflow on her Ibiza GTI and its good with none of my problems, but in my honest opinion its not worth the risk,

I have a a powerflow back box and milltek dp! Back box makes a nice rumble on tick over and is not loud when giving it some! Think it all depends on the fitters at the end of the day!
