I left a tape in mine which seems to have done the trick. I read it on here somewhere when I first got my car.:)

Sorry to bring back a bit of an old thread. But does anybody have the link for the guy on ebay described above? Im going looking at a 2001, 1.4 ibiza at weekend for my girlfriend and the sellar says it has this same problem. Will this be fully cured just by replacing the head unit? Anybody know what the cause of this is to try and avoid it in the future if its a common fault? Also, does the leave a tape thing in it work as a temporary 'fix' just until we get the new unit, if that will cure it.

Thanks in advance
Ash

I can't yet send pm's as its saying im still a new mamber. To be honest mate you will probably want more money for yours than we are looking at spending. But do you have a link to a for sale thread or anything? And you mean you put in a separate head unit? Wouldnt mind looking at how you have done it though if thats ok with you mate?

Hi mate, you need to have posted 15 times to pm i beleive. Thats in the rules section.

I havn't made a for sale thread or anything yet as im just thinking about it now really.

Yeh i rewired a new head unit under the steering wheel, quite easy to do really. I think there is a guide here somwhere!

You can also place a new head unit where the old one is but alot trickier to do.

More than welcome to have a look how i did it. Located in the M35 area.

I'm in m34 or sk5 depending on the day haha. Ahh I haven't yet made 15 posts.

Well we have a head unit already but it's a flip out screen one. I'm pretty good with things like that so I may take on putting it in the dash. I'm sure I can recieve pm's so send me a bit more info and price on yours. Also when would be good to look at the head unit set up. Any daytime before 2.30 is good with me. Or after 9pm due to work.

There's also a how to for installing it in the centre but I'm not sure where it is at the moment.:)

Ps ignore the arrows they were for something else.

That centre vents one looks like a winner to me. Shall be having a good go at that providing I buy the one I'm going to take a look at on Saturday. Seems a better option than getting the standard unit repaired in my opinion. Here's to hoping the one I look at on Saturday is as described

I don't have climate control or ac, just a heater and windows that open but yeh, that flippin buzzer! I've had the car at least 18 months and I still crap myself lol. I could install a bong or maybe get it to sing me a nice gentle reminder or just chop the friggin wires.:D

With regards to the stereo install I'm going to finish mine off with some matt black paint I have which comes out with a nice satin sheen.:)

No! don't do it! It doesn't look at all good. I did it to mine, but now I prefer it with all the buttons, makes it look more stock in the day.

Edit: And the paint doesn't match the rest of the dash. I'm still trying to get the rest of the drivers bit out to match it to the centre console
