Rear Brake Lights dont work - but tailgate one does?

Hi

Ive read through the forum for a solution to this but could not find anything.

My rear brake lights dont work but the tailgate light does, I've replaced the bulbs but still no joy. Is there a way to permanently illuminate the lights so that I can check the voltage with a multimeter.

Any ideas why this may be happening

Could someone indicate to me the location of the brake light switch, I know its somewhere near the brake pedal , but cant find it?

Have you checked the fuses under your dash ?

Thanks for your suggestion. I thought that because the tailgate brake light works then the fuse must be OK. I assumed that they are on the same circuit. Are they on separate cicruits?

takes 2mins the check the fuse,s m8! first place id look if both were out!

I can't remember which are the same bulb, I'm sure the brake light and tailight filiments are in the same bulb. So you may be fitting a bulb with only one filiment...

any joy with this issue? im a newbie to this forum as ive just bought a cordoba and i have the same problem- just the 3rd brake light works! checked the fuses and bulbs already!

Yes, I have fixed it. It was my mistake, I was using the wrong bulbs. Relaced both with the correct type , now both working fine
