I've had a universal cone filter from halfords on my LC for the past 2 years nearly and not had any trouble with it. Sounds good too.
I can believe you on that, I was going to buy a Ripspeed DVD headunit for the car, I had the money in my hand and the Ripspeed guy actually said to my face 'don't buy it it's crap, you'll be back next week wanting a replacement because it won't work'

mate, dont get the filter. My friend had it on his LCR and after a dyno run made 230bhp and 230 torque (with jabba) i know it wasnt down to the filter, but it felt slow as fook with it on anyway
Tubby, are you running Airbox and panel on yours? thinking of going back as the car runs like crap once been sat in traffic due to heat soak.
yep, car came with a Jetex panel filter. Always ran open cones on my previous cars (MR2 Turbos) with good results, however the LCR sounded like a broken hoover and was sluggish.

If your going to put a cone filter in, do yourself a favour, build a heat shield enclosure for it and give it a proper air feed from the front of the car.
Using a cone filter in place of the standard air box without the above will REDUCE your performance as you are getting warm air with no added ram force.
It WILL make a roaring induction sound, however the best way forward for performance is stock box and uprated panel filter. IMO the paper filter you get from anywhere is good enough.

Its not just the ripspeed stuff. I used to work in Halfords but the quality of all own brand products is poop and I avoid them like the plague.
For all non own brand stuff it is more expensive than tesco's, motorworld or ebay so not worth it.
