Hi,
Was thinking of getting 17" rs6 replicas for my seat leon 1.4. Will the car need to be lowered?
Anybody recommend a place for alloys? what are rochford tyres like? Cheers

17s are not that big under the arches and with low pros ( 215 40 17) it wont be much higher but they tend too look bigger when lowered ( im lowered on 17s with coilovers )

personally i would buy 18's as they fill the arches nicely, having said that they may affect performance a little on the 1.4.
To lower the car you can just buy springs, the FSD's are shock absorbers so you don't actually need them to just lower the car.
Dependant on how cash flow is, you best bet is to get a nice shock and spring setup lowering the car around 35mm, this will cost roughly £200ish.
If you go for springs only then eventually your standard shocks will die prematurely. saying that i had a set of -45mm spax springs on my 1.6 had it for 2 years like that and it was fine.
Regarding rochford tyres, they have some very good deals and have heard only good things about them.

Hope that helps a bit.

Cheers

Danny

Thanks for the reply danny. I think ill stick with 17, 18's would be nicer but its only a 1.4 and am already worried it'll be slow enough with 17's on it!
I'll have a look around for spring & shock packs so

I drive a 1.8t cupra and that sits (im pretty sure) on the same sized bits and boobs underneath, and she looks hansom on a set of 18s, without lowering. I was going to go for 18s, but am glad i spent the extra few pounds on the larger rims as the arches on the leon are the perfect size for them.

I have 18s aswell it hasnt made much difference but i have diesel so i got packets of torque.

If you got enough go for 18s and maybe have a lil remap to gain a bit more performance

have a look in the your cars section for my pictures.

Remap a 1.4  hmmm not having a go but but it's not gonna be worth it for the extra 5 bhp you'd probably get

I believe it is about 8Bhp.

like i said money being no object would probably counter the wheel weight. but then money being no object you wouldnt have a 1.4 leon :)

but tbh If the cars slow then the wheels arnt going to make them THAT much slower , and its not as if you race everything in it. I did this on my 1.0l Corsa Style over speed :) If it doesnt go fast you may aswell make it look as good as possible.

I have RS alloys on mine, 225 40 18's and never had 1 bit of trouble. And they look the nuts ;)

I have 17" RS6 on my Leon TDI SE.
Think it sits at the same height or possibly a little lower than a 1.4 as standard and the 17" wheels look good in my eyes.

Cheers for the replies. Must say that car looks savage scamps! Did you get seat stickers for the logos on the wheels or how did you do it? Think ill get the wheels this weekend and see how it looks. As for the 1.4, its more an insurance thing over here, still dont have a full licence!

Centre caps come plain grey and the garage i bought the wheels from provided stickers to apply on to the caps.
You might be able to buy some on ebay if the garage can't supply them for you.
