Im thinking of going for FK coilovers in Feb some time, what would be a recomended safe drop?

i want to lower the front 30mmish and the back say 50mmish?

Will this cause any major problems or could i go lower?

Thanks for your help

Surely if you go that low, you'll have probs with the Camber being out on the front, therefore eating tyres, also Isn't there problems with ARB's and driveshafts if you go lower than 45mm???

I really want coilovers but i don't want to do any damage to anything else, therefore - sensible!!!

i suppose so, you never know till you find out,

How come the highest you can go on FK's is 45mm?

Fingers crossed 45mm won't cause problems

Youll probably get some rubbing with 17's on the fronts with a 50mm drop and 205/40 profile tyres (i do woo!). This only occurrs when going over large and fast bumps or cornering at insane speeds.

Stock 16's i could get away with (just).

Rears are fine at 50, mine seems to look just right with that drop but some ppl say a little more. All i can say is subs and extra people and you may end up regrettin it :p

Ed, have you got any pics of your car lowered 50mm?

I rang up rimstyle and they said the approved lowering range is 45mm to 85mm,

but 40mm should be possible,

Ed, Can you still get 5 people in the car easily with it down 50mm and have you had any problems with it that low?

Cheers mate

Sisson: Theres some snaps of my car on this thread, totally unloaded:
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=75571

Had 4 burly blokes in once and it was hella low :cartman: Mike_OBD got a pic so ill see if he still has it. Should be ok with a little more but dont know how much room in the arch there was spare (prob plenty if your offset is hi and your wheels are fully under). The fronts didnt rub any more than usual either iirc.

The suspension on mine has been on for around 25k. The only problem is that the ARB hits on the wishbone at 95% to full lock. You can sometimes hear it clang a little if the wishbone bushes move. I had all this checked out at JBS and its negligible damage (just scaratching).

HOWEVER - DO NOT reverse off a Kerb or large bump/dip at anywhere near full lock. When the car is briefly in the air the ARB can move underneath the wishbone and then clang back into its previous position. Did this once and it made a horrible noise and was lucky (i guess) for nothing to break. Other than that its all dandy!

Commence knocking on wood :p

I bought the car with some Eagle F1 GSD3's with 2mm all round and not a touch of uneven wear. Camber and toe seems perfect altho ride quality is harsh and watch those alloys when going over bumps! Theres such little give that the tyres take lots of abuse.

I see your in Derbyshire! Why not head over next Sat to sheffield if you can, might let u have a play in mine ;)
