SKC Immob Code - Quick Question.

I don't need a key coding at the moment as the dealer coded a second flip key for me for nothing.

However they did give me the SKC code. This was only a 4 digit code that was emailed to them from Seat UK.

Strange thing is though I have a 55 Plate LCR and I thought the newer codes are all 7 Digits?

In the future if needed will I have an issue with only the 4 digit code?, can it be converted to a 7 using the chassis number etc.. or will it make no difference?.

Keys must be coded using the new 7-digit SKC (secret key code) method unless the owner still has the correct 4-digit code.

Cheers Al, but I was more wondering why SEAT UK sent the dealer a 4 digit code for a newer car?, can they generate a 7 digit from this?.

The way i understand it is...

the 7 digit skc and WSC (work shop code) is used to generate the 4 digit login code.

so the 4 digit code just bypasses a step

For clarification, the 7-digit SKC/PIN is an "encrypted" version of the 4-digit SKC/PIN. It does not matter which one you use and most of our current immobilizer procedures cover both.
