Sometimes when i start my car (LCR), even when it's been runing for ages, and is well up to temp, it'll idle at about 2k. And if i go to blip the throttle, to try and settle it, it splutters slightly. Any ideas?

ever presssed the accelerator when starting the car?

try dissconnecting thebattery for 5 mins, then recommect.

then if no change, try unplugging the maf.

Im spect all pipework for even small splits

not sure this is likely to correct, but free to try.

Sounds like you have a boost leak. A split hose downstream of the throttle butterfly will allow the engine to get more air than the ECU wants it to get, ergo it will rev higher than desired and it will splutter when you accelerate due to an over-lean mixture.

Check the breather hoses on the underside of your intake manifold for splits, rips or holes.

EDIT: Might benefit from cleaning the throttle body also.
