Why does my key only work when right up against the car

Hiya,

I only have the one key at the mo, and only unlocks the central locking my pressing the button quite a few times sometimes it does work straight away but you still have to be right up against the car to get it to unlock or to lock it.


Can some one tell me what is wrong with it?

Ps ive changed the battery today still no better. Im completely new to seat

This is a usual sign the battery is going flat.

Really should read all the thread before repling

my original is poor too, but the flip keys are excellent

if you've done a battery swap the next obvious thing is dirty contacts inside the key where the two halves join together.

Or possibly dry solder joints like I had causing it to eat battery's.

In side where the mother board is, there seems to be some solder which certainly is nt oiriginal its where the terminals contect to the battery I think. Could this cause it? I just thort it must be ok if the red light flashed.

Mine did this, then would only lock the car, now doesn't do either

The reciever board was goosed apparenty, you apparently have to send it off to SEAT for a new part and re-coding.

More than I was willing to fork out... so I just use the key now, I think it was in the region of £560....

just look on e-bay for a new fob. then you can reprogram it to work with car. £15 - £20 i've seen them for. Worth a go for £20 compared to £560 seat want to charge.
