Hi all! My names Alex. I'm a 19 year old graphic designer/vehicle wrapper and I've just bought myself a 64 plate Leon Cupra 280! Thought I'd join the forum to find out more information about Cupra's and join the community!

I would like to have a shot in one of those. I have the FR 150 TDI with DTUK help, and it isn't shabby, but not 280 daft. Tell us how you find it.:funk:

Got to be fair to the car when I say it's amazing! Don't get me wrong fuel can disappear if you want it to! But motorway driving I can get close to 40mpg if I try! Having comfort mode and CUPRA mode is a nice extra! Would reccomend it all day only had it 2 weeks but haven't found any faults so far! :D

I'd have killed myself with that at 19. I was bad enough with my MK2 1100 escort. Keep the testerone under wraps, so you can enjoy the pleasure for longer. I'm old, but still manage it, albeit a bit slower. My driving is still crap too though. lol.

Meppershall Beds.
when I was 19 the best you could hope for was a Cortina GT or a Cooper S, unless you went the sports car route.
And what was a Cortina GT? 75 BHP, if that? Rustbox, paltry equipment, unreliable, uneconomic, but still an aspiration to a bloke with an anglia or Hillman Minx.
hard to credit just how far cars have come on in my lifetime.
Considering that the best airliner around then was the 707, which isn't far off the latest planes in terms of performance...
And we were putting men on the moon.

so the motor industry has developed far more rapidly than aerospace.
fortunately for us....

I may disagree with you on the aerospace item. That has also come a very long way. I have been in the business for nearly 40 years. I now work in Development for the latest engines to be fitted to the carbon fibre aircraft.
I remember always wanting a Ford Capri. Obviously it was all style, as no one would ever say they enjoyed going round a roundabout in the wet driving a Capri. Changes the colour of your underpants.
I must say that DTUK have made my Leon a better drive. No need for red lines to appreciate it. No need to buy all black knickers, as was the case with a Capri.

"The car you always promised yourself..."
I started with a 1953 Popular, whch would lean outwards in bends; upgraded to a standard 8, which was as old, but a bit more fun, then an old peugeot 403. Quite a grown-up car! By the time I got married the best I could afford was a Mini 1000.
But today? I think young drivers would walk away from something as basic as these. and why not? they CAN do better.
we've all upgraded expectations in 40 years; from cars, washing machines, TVs, foreign holidays, soft toilet paper.....don't get me started!
Bet you work at Wolls Woyce?

Correct. RR. Ex RAF too. Let's not forget, it used to be fun fixing cars too, and then you could. Today, no chance. Cars are quicker, but better suspension, chassis, brakes, the lot. I used to have fun trying to stop my mates Morris Minor from 70.

I never got my Pop over 60....the Standard felt quicker because we managed to lower the suspension and change the front seats for mini seats which we welded lower down. And it had 4 forward gears, unlike the POP, which had 3. wasn't tuned, but it just felt quicker.
happy days...
