clunking noise when turning going slow

I drive a Seat Leon Cupra R '03'.
I recently took my wheels off to spray the brake callipers back to their normal red. Now when i am driving slow and turn out of a road or into a parking place it makes a loud clunking noise or and series of clicks.

I have tried testing the CV joints by driving in a full lock circle in an empty car park, it doesnt make any noise whilst doing this and it seems to be intermittent.
I took it to the garage this morning and he felt some springs behind my wheel and he said these are fine also.
He asked me to drive around a bit turning round etc but it didnt make one clicking noise.

Its really frustrating that nobody knows what it is and when i go to show someone it doesnt make a noise.

Any suggestions?? Tests i can do??

Thanks

I have taken it to the garage and they have balanced it and done the tracking. I would of thought they would of made sure the wheel nuts were on tight. :S.
Might just be a coiincidence that this started happening after i took the wheels off?

Had that before on 2 of my previous cars, not Seat's i hasten to add, but both times it turned out to be wheel bearings.
Like a clunking noise, could feel it a little through the steering wheel too, but at higher speeds nothing at all and no wheel wobble.

Clunking is corrosion on the hub flange where the wheel centre slips over it. Clean it up with a wire brush and it'll go. Clicking is a knackered outer CV joint.

Garage have said that the CV joints appear to be fine. When i went to show him the clicking noise. Typically it wouldn't click. He said to bring the car back when it is getting worse but i dont want to leave as 1) It drives me mad and 2) i dont want it to make things worse.
Is there any sort of test to see if it is the wheel bearing?? Or do i just replace them and hope for the best??
I have done the CV joint test by driving in a small circle and there were no clicks or clunks. My warranty runs out in a month so really need to get this done asap.

Any suggestions??

Knackered wheel bearings will give a droning noise that changes pitch with speed rather than revs when you're driving. The noise gets louder as the bearing gets worse.

You can check the bearings by jacking the car up so that the suspect wheel is off the ground and gripping it at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions then trying to rock it back and forth on the hub from top to bottom. If there is movement, the bearing needs replaced, if there's no movement, its fine.

Word of warning if the bearing is on its way out it might not show up on the wheel wobble test (12 o'clock and 6 o'clock). Mines been making the same noise for about a yr it's now got worse than ever. I do the 12 and 6 test every week and there's now play at all.

Its going in for service at end of the month so it will be checked out. Got a feelling its either the wheel bearing or bushes. But also been told that it could possibly be the rear engine mount. But until it's checked out I can guess all I want.

Right. Well Garage has had a look at it and took it for a drive to hear the noise. He has said that the problem is with the Front Suspension Top mounts. Doesnt seem likely to me or anyone else i tell but im not a mechanic and dont know barely anything about cars so ill take his word for it i spose.
He has quoted me £120 inc VAT.

Im not very confident this will fix it though. :s

I'd go with that last post about wishbone bush going or gone bad. Top mounts would be any movement of the car not just turning.
